Meet Rachel Bonnici – The main prize winner of our Facebook give-away
Rachel was the lucky ISIC cardholder to win the biggest prize of our Facebook give-away in June. She received a Prestigio 8500 Smartphone courtesy of Scan Malta, where you get student discounts with your ISIC card all year round.
We had a little a chat with Rachel to find out a bit about her. She’s 20 years old, had just completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Tourism Studies at University of Malta and soon she will be starting her Masters course. She lived in Germany for a 
while as part of her Erasmus opportunity with her university studies, and completed an internship back home at the Arts Council Malta, which she successfully turned into a part-time job as well.
Rachel is also a youth leader and passionate about volunteer experiences. She works on several European projects for local youngsters: recently she took young people to Georgia where the Maltese team was mixed with the local students and they were learning essential team working skills despite any language barriers. This summer she will be going to Ukraine for 3 weeks to teach English to the Ukrainian youth as well as leadership skills and public speaking.
“I do all these volunteer experiences to inspire others and by talking to them and hopefully they will start creating their own projects as well within their communities.”
Needless to say, we are very impressed with how actively she’s involved with the student community!
Rachel had her ISIC card for many years now, even when it was known locally as the NSTS card. Because she travels quite a bit, she’s been enjoying the international student discounts as well.
“I use my ISIC card abroad all the time. It’s like an official student identity, for example when I go to museums abroad and they ask if I’m a student, I just show them my ISIC card and I get the student priced tickets.”
When she has a bit of free time she enjoys reading, arts, poetry and sailing.
And what would be her dream travel destination?
“I would choose India, it’s such an inspirational country. Also New Zealand because it’s a major sailing destination.”
